The Client

Our client are a construction business who act as a main contractor, they deliver single source construction and engineering solutions to the UK's public and private sectors with a specialism within healthcare. They are looking for a Bid Writer to join the team.

The Role

The Bid Writer will be responsible for creating high-quality written bids and submissions. Our new Bid Writer will be a self-motivated creative writer and have a positive, winning mentality. You will have significant attention to detail, an excellent eye for presentation and design, and the ability to write articulately. Strong organisational and time-management skills are a must in our fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide admin support from initial enquiry to tender submission, including bid writing input from general quotations/client enquiries to large scale bid submissions.
  • Management of the in-house CRM database
  • Monitoring our dedicated opportunities software
  • Taking ownership of client portals/frameworks - including dealing with daily alerts and maintenance of portal logins.
  • Thoroughly editing and proof-reading material to ensure information is formatted and grammatically correct without spelling errors.
  • Collaboration with the wider team to develop compelling Social Value Bid responses
  • Review all client documents prior to a bid launch meeting.
  • Work with the Senior Bid Manager to develop a clear win strategy for each bid and ensure win themes are clear and compelling.
  • Managing & contributing to the written proposal - both in terms of content and presentation
  • Produce bespoke CV's and case studies based on the requirements.
  • Ensure timescales are achieved at each step of the bid process, including all internal processes, while taking the initiative in setting realistic deadlines.
  • Co-ordinate and plan all client presentations required as part of the bid submission.
  • Understand clients' requirements for submission.
  • Assisting on the production of the submission, ensure that they are in keeping with corporate guidelines. This includes the structure and design of the documents, design of graphics, format of case studies of readability of responses.

What we require from you? - Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying - 3 years' experience undertaking a similar role preferably for a main contractor. - Strong knowledge of ICE/NEC forms of contract - Solid background in commercial management and subcontractor procurement, including leading regular meetings, managing the measurement and control cycle, issuing certificates, and performing accruals calculations. - Demonstrated expertise in monthly reporting and earned value analysis. - Skilled in estimation and cost analysis. - Excellent communication, numerical, and IT skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office. - Valid CSCS card The client has been established for over 30 years with a growing pipeline of works.
