Alderley Edge School for Girls consult with staff over proposed pension cuts

Alderley Edge School for Girls are continuing to consult with their staff over proposed pension cuts with no decision having been made.
Teachers have been told that continued membership of the Teacher Pension Scheme is challenging due to rises in employer costs.
A spokesperson for Alderley Edge School for Girls said: "The last few years have brought a series of unprecedented and unpredictable economic challenges, and these have been felt particularly keenly in the independent schools sector.
"These pressures – including dramatic increases in employer contributions to teacher pensions and National Insurance; VAT on school fees; removal of business rates relief; rising energy and operational costs – cannot be ignored and have prompted us to carefully review our position.
"We are continuing to consult with our staff on the current proposals, and no decisions have been taken.
"We remain fully committed to offering an exceptional education and a supportive working environment at Alderley Edge School for Girls, and are doing everything we can to ensure this continues far into the future."
