Over £2M has been raised for Cheshire East Hospice during their annual Christmas tree collection.

Last weekend over 7000 trees were collected from across Cheshire and will now be recycled into mulch to help the planet.

Pete and Richard, who are both founders of the tree collection, received High Sheriff awards for their dedication and support for the cause.

This year marked 25 years of East Cheshire Hospice's annual Christmas tree collection and the donations will go directly to supporting the Hospice and providing quality care for patients and their families.

A Cheshire East Hospice spokesperson said: "We are incredibly proud to celebrate this phenomenal milestone, which is the result of 25 years of unwavering dedication from our community and the thousands of volunteers who have contributed their time and effort.

"A special thank you goes to our inspirational organisers, Richard Raymond and Pete Chapman, whose vision and commitment have not only raised an incredible £2 million to support patients and families at East Cheshire Hospice but have also sparked a national movement.

"Their work has inspired many other hospices across the country to start their own Christmas Tree Collections, generating vital funds for hospice care nationwide."

Those who took part left their trees in an easily accessible location and let the team of volunteers do the rest of the work.

For those who used an artificial tree or didn't have a tree at all, they were still able to donate to the Hospice.
