For one week in December, any donations made to Wilmslow Youth will be doubled as part of its Big Give this Christmas (Wilmslow Youth).

The Big Give Christmas challenge is underway and Wilmslow Youth is asking for donations from the local community.

For one week only starting today (Tuesday 3 December), any donations made to Wilmslow Youth will be doubled.

The charity provide local, free to access mental health services for young people in the local area.

Before their work started, there was no social space for young people in town. In fact, there were no free mental health support services locally and travelling into a neighbouring town for help made support particularly difficult to access for less mobile young people.

Community partnerships manager for Wilmslow Youth, Claire Carter said: "Our charity is not just a service but a community to belong for our young people, their families and volunteers.

"We want the community to get behind us and support our work and our young people.

"Recent data from NHS show over 22 % of young people in England have a mental health disorder.

"We offer a youth club so young people can have a safe space to have fun, find friendship and our trained staff and volunteers are there to be a listening ear if required.

"Sometimes our young people find they need some extra help, struggling with school or perhaps something has happened to make life has hard. We can then offer one to one counselling and wellbeing services either in school or at our space at The Undercroft cafe.

The youth cafe provides a safe place where young people can go after school, play sports, games and hang out. It's a space to meet new friends and trusted adults to talk to.

The cafe is often the front door to specialist therapeutic services such as counselling, wellbeing workshops and an education outreach provision.

They provide a space for friendship and compassion, a place of nurture, to build resilience and self-belief.

Any donations made to Wilmslow Youth through the big give website will be doubled for one week only up until Tuesday 10 December.

You can also donate to the Big Give through their community Christmas raffle. For every £5 ticket you buy, the full amount plus an additional £5 from their match funders will go to Wilmslow Youth.

There are some great prizes that have been donated by local community members, and the winning tickets will be drawn at the end of the Big Give week.
