Wilmslow Albion scored an impressive double win in two separate matches over the weekend.

Both the men's team and women's team won their matches which they played over the weekend.

In a thrilling match on Saturday 12 October Albion pulled off a stunning comeback to defeat Macclesfield Reserves 3-2 to record their first win of the season.

After a slow start to the game, the first opportunity came in the 8th minute when Wilmslow's Amaan Malik was on the end of a good cross from Joe Regan but sent the shot over the bar.

Macclesfield began to find their rhythm, and in the 16th minute their number 7 unleashed a powerful shot that was brilliantly saved by the Wilmslow keeper Omar Sheik.

Wilmslow Albion beat Macclesfield Reserves 3-2 to record their first win of the season (Wilmslow Albion).

Just two minutes later, number 10 for Macclesfield tested the keeper again, but the Wilmslow custodian made another outstanding save.

In the 21st minute Tyler O'Neill nearly found the net with a header following an initial shot from Luke Bent, but the ball went just wide. Despite a flurry of attacks, two subsequent free kicks from Wilmslow failed to break the deadlock.

The game took a physical turn in the 37th minute when the home side's number 10 received a yellow card for shirt pulling, adding tension to the match as the teams headed into halftime goalless.

After the break, Macc Reserves struck first in the 57th minute, with number 16 finding the back of the net with a strike from distance to make it 1-0 to the home side.

In response, Wilmslow made tactical substitutions bringing on Kian Parsa, Allen Quinney and Ore Olufemimusa to replace Joe Regan, Tyler O'Neill, and Luke Bent.

Sheik continued to shine in the Wilmslow net, making a great save against a shot from Macclesfield's number 12, however the home side doubled their lead after 69 minutes when number 10 scored putting them ahead 2-0.

But Albion were not done and in the 72 minutes, they began their comeback. The substitutes had injected the side with energy, and it was Quinney who got them back in the game with a fantastic solo strike after being played in behind, reducing the deficit to 2-1.

Just five minutes later, Parsa drew the sides level, firing in an impressive shot after being found by a cross from Malik, levelling the scores at 2-2.

The drama continued as Malik found the winner in the 84th minute, touching the ball home after a strong cross from Alfa Barry was only partially cleared by the home side, completing the comeback and putting Albion ahead 3-2.

The Albion Ultras behind the goal went wild and rushed to the front of the stand to celebrate with their heroes.

Despite a tense atmosphere, no further goals were scored in 8 minutes of added time, and finally the whistle blew, confirming a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory for the away side.

Wilmslow Albion women cruised to victory over Ashton Pumas to maintain their 100 per cent record and move to the top of the league (Wilmslow Albion).

This wasn't Albion's only victory over the weekend.

On Sunday 13 October, Wilmslow Albion women cruised to victory over Ashton Pumas to maintain their 100 per cent record and move to the top of the league.

The first goal came from the penalty spot after Liv Bradshaw was fouled in the area by the home side keeper, who had to be replaced due to injury. Liv picked herself up and made no mistake from the spot.

Albion gradually took control, and came close when Maia Lewis's corner hit the post. Another chance went awry when Llewellyn's delightful through ball fell to Genelle Walker, but her shot pinged off the bar.

Further keeper troubles hampered Pumas, as Bradshaw again broke through the offside trap in first half injury time.

They had to wait till just before the half time whistle to extend their lead though, a shot from distance from Lewis doubling their lead.

Keen to keep up the intensity, Albion made a strong start to the second half, with Jess Bradshaw first scoring with a shot which squirmed through the keeper, then rounding the keeper to score her second to make it 4-0.

An opportunistic shot from distance saw Lewis score her second, before she made it six with a free kick from 25 yards which evaded everyone and sneaked it at the far post - that sealed her hattrick. Walker had another shot saved, but made no mistake with the rebound to make it seven, before Liv Bradshaw finished off the scoring to make it 8-0.

A comfortable win against determined opposition, and a first clean sheet of the season for the team who move on to Cheshire Cup action next week away at Nantwich Town Ladies.
