As lockdown restrictions fully easy, Wilmslow Nub News is on a mission to promote the goings on in our town.

Introducing the Wilmslow Nub News, Event of the Week, where each week we will highlight an upcoming event in greater detail.

While you can always promote your event for FREE on the Wilmslow Nub News events section, the Event of the Week article will delve deeper into a highlighted event.

Today, we preview a July event which invites our area to shed a few pounds and meet new people - while exploring the beautiful far-reaching views of the Cheshire Plain.

Starting at The Wizard on Macclesfield Road in Nether Alderley, the walk will take punters through Alderley Edge to Daniel and Hare Hill.

Walking through the National Trust sites and on the grounds of old copper mines is rich in local beauty.

A 168 metre ascent will lead to a maximum elevation of 197 metres - an straightforward hike to ease us out of lockdown.

The two hour 7.5 kilometre (4.66 miles) trek ends back at The Wizard - where refreshments are available to purchase.

The event organisers invite local entrepeneurs to come along, as the relaxing stroll can also serve as a mini-networking event, even as indoor events are still not common due to the pandemic.

It will take place one week before the end of social distancing restrictions, but masks are not required for the hike.

Freshwalks are charging £14.06 for the 14 July event, which meets at The Wizard from 10:15am.

The Alderley Edge Circular will be led by Katya Willems.

"Freshwalks brings business people together through the simple combination of walking and talking," she said.

"This popular route is a perfect entry level walk for Freshwalkers of all abilities and especially those with limited time to join us.

"The toilets at Alderley Edge are open. Please follow social distancing measures.

"Don't forget, you will need to wear some appropriate footwear and bring a bottle of water but we'll send out detailed information in the week before the walk."

The Alderley Edge Circular is slated to finish on July 14 at 12:45.
