A local man is preparing to take on the London Marathon on Sunday 27 April to raise funds for a charity tackling hygiene poverty.

Ben Lambert has been a trustee for the Wilmslow based charity Bare Necessities for the last three years.

This year he has decided to put his running skills to the test by entering the London Marathon.

This will be his second time running the London Marathon, having completed it in 2022 for a different charity.

Ben previously raised over £5000 for a different charity when he first took part in the London Marathon back in 2022 (Image-supplied).

In 2022 he ran the London Marathon for the Christie NHS Foundation Trust, raising a grand total of £5,400 for the charity.

He said: "First time I went through the Christie to get my marathon place and this time I got a place luckily through the ballot.

"As a trustee of Bare Necessities, I have decided to do some fundraising for those guys."

"I've done a fair few events. I wouldn't call myself a natural runner but it's something I get some pleasure out of. It's a great way to raise money."

Ben is passionate about the charity, having been a trustee for Bare Necessities for the past three years (Image-supplied).

Ben takes the time outside of his full-time job to volunteer and help out with the heavy lifting.

He recently completed the half marathon at the Wilmslow Running Festival. This marked his sixth time taking part in the Running Festival.

All funds raised from his upcoming London Marathon will go to Bare Necessities.

The charity was founded in 2018 and highlights the issue of hygiene poverty. They work with various other charities and encourage people to donate toiletries and hygiene essentials at their donation points.

They work with over 30 different organisations and charities at any one time, covering all sectors from food bank, street homeless to youth and schools.
