Drivers are being warned a main road to Alderley Edge will be shut for around three weeks next month as roadworks take place.

Gas company Cadent will be carrying out works to replace old pipes on Congleton Road, Nether Alderley from Monday 3 March.

Cheshire East Council has approved an 18-month closure order for the road, but it is anticipated the works will be complete by Wednesday 26 March.

The closure will be in force from Congleton Road's junction with Welsh Row and Whitebarn Road.

A diversion route will be put in place via Welsh Row, Frog Lane Roundabout, Melrose Way, Harden park Roundabout, Wilmslow Road, and London Road, and vice versa.

Cadent may also have to switch off gas supplies to properties in the area during the course of the works.
