Police release CCTV image following reports of a fake traffic warden in Wilmslow
Police have released a CCTV Image of a man they are looking to identify after an elderly man was defrauded in Wilmslow.
Sometime between 12.10pm and 12.30pm on Friday 6 December, a 76-year-old man parked his vehicle at the South Drive car park in Wilmslow.
After exiting his car, he was approached by an unknown man wearing a high-visibility jacket, a cap, a face mask, and black trousers.
The man told the victim that he was a traffic warden and that the ticket machine was broken so he would need to pay him directly by bank card.
The victim handed over his debit card and the offender then fled the scene, claiming that the machine had swallowed the victim's card.
A quantity of cash was subsequently withdrawn from the victim's account.
Enquiries in relation to the matter are ongoing and officers are urging residents in the local area to remain cautious.
Anyone with any information in relation to the incident is asked to contact Cheshire Police at www.cheshire.police.uk/tell-us, or call 101, quoting IML 1986613.
