Volunteers help plant remaining hedgerow near iconic Jodrell Bank telescope

Last Saturday (22 February), a record number of Goostrees volunteers came to help plant the remaining 100 metres of hedgerow at Bridge Farm, Blackden just under the iconic Jodrell Bank telescope.
Co organiser, Clare Downing, said: "It was so lovely to see over 25 helpers of all ages come along and get stuck in. We have become a really strong team of volunteers these days- some of us have helped at pretty much all the schemes over the years, yet some came to plant for the first time, but everyone is always very welcome regardless of ability or experience.
"We even had three generations of the same family come along to plant this time. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and we completed the project in record time, we can't thank our helpers enough.

"We have now finished the entire hedgerow corridor between the Jodrell Bank Arboretum and the Bridge Lane Wood. In years to come this will create a perfect habitat and byway for even more fauna and flora."
Another co organiser, Paul Kemsley, said: "Hopefully we will have more exciting projects to announce in the coming months, watch this space and please come and join us'.
