The great Victorian-era tradition of afternoon tea is coming to Wilmslow, and is our Event of the Week.

And each week, we highlight an event happening in the Wilmslow area in greater detail. And today we profile the Wilmslow Animal Sanctuary hosting afternoon tea.

While the event isn't until Saturday August 1, spaces are limited and set to fill up before. So do not hesitate to register your interest now!

Expect scons and maybe even macarons, sandwiches and high-quality teas. Sausage rolls and cakes are also expected at the event, perfect for some family fun in the sun.

It costs only £10 per person (and under fives are free).

"Afternoon tea will be served at 1.00 and 3.00pm," said the event organisers.

"There will be tables for 2-6 (8 at a squeeze) and these must be booked and paid for in advance. You will be served at your table with your choice of tea or coffee, and a selection of sandwiches, sausage rolls, a scone and cakes.

"Prosecco will also be available for an additional donation. We can offer gluten free or vegan bakes, but please note that all items may contain traces of nuts.

"After tea you will have an opportunity to browse a few stalls (plants, gifts, vintage items, pet products) and win some prizes at the tombola and 'Bottle on a String' tub.

"All the tables will be under cover, but if the weather is so bad that we have to cancel the event your food will be delivered to you on Sunday morning so that you and your family can enjoy them in the comfort of your home."

Please note that tours of the Wilmslow Sanctuary will not be available and that dogs are not allowed on site.

It is thought any profits from this traditional afternoon tea experience will go towards the Newgate sanctuary.
