Accounts Senior

A busy firm of Chartered Accountants in Wilmslow is looking for an experienced Accounts Senior to join its team. You will take responsibility for a varied portfolio of accounts assignments, work directly with clients and support the development of junior colleagues.

This role would suit someone with strong accountancy practice experience who enjoys combining technical work with client contact.

The role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and reviewing year-end accounts for limited companies, partnerships and sole traders.
• Preparing supporting working papers and ensuring files are ready for manager or partner review.
• Preparing corporation tax computations and assisting with related submissions.
• Reviewing bookkeeping records and VAT returns, and resolving any issues identified.
• Acting as a point of contact for clients, answering queries and obtaining the information needed to complete assignments.
• Managing accounts assignments from initial records through to completion, while keeping clients and colleagues informed of progress.
• Identifying matters that require further advice and referring them to the appropriate specialist or senior colleague.
• Reviewing work prepared by junior team members and providing practical guidance.
• Helping to maintain high standards of accuracy, service and timely delivery across the team.

About you

You will have substantial accounts preparation experience gained within a firm of Chartered Accountants or another accountancy practice. You should be confident preparing limited company accounts, managing deadlines and dealing directly with clients.

You will also have strong technical and organisational skills, a careful approach to reviewing your own work and the ability to explain financial matters clearly. Experience supporting or reviewing the work of junior colleagues would be an advantage.

You may be AAT qualified, ACCA or ACA qualified, or qualified by experience. The firm will place particular value on your practical experience and ability to manage accounts work to a high standard.
