Cinderella production awarded Wilmslow Town Council grant
A Community Grant of £5,000 has been awarded to Cheshire Youth Pantomime Society for their production of Cinderella, which takes place from Thursday 2 January to Sunday 5 January 2025.
Cheshire Youth Pantomime Society (CHYPS) is a performing arts charity with 50 members aged 11 to 19 years, the majority of whom are Wilmslow residents.
CHYPS present a pantomime each January at the Evans Theatre, Wilmslow Leisure Centre, with each production empowering young people to develop enduring and transferable skills through the creation of theatre in a professional environment.
The grant from Wilmslow Town Council will be used to part-fund production expenses, such as rehearsal venue hire and hire of the Evans Theatre for three matinees and three evening shows.
Wilmslow Town Mayor, Councillor Tim Higgins, said, "We are delighted to sponsor the Cinderella shows.
"Through the hard work and commitment of rehearsals, then performing on stage in a big production, CHYPS gives young people in Wilmslow experiences and opportunities that they will carry for life.
"Not only that, but the shows can also be enjoyed by the whole community, in the heart of Wilmslow, extending the festive feeling for a bit longer.
"We wish CHYPS every success with the pantomime. Oh yes we do!"
