Wilmslow Town Council and Cheshire East Council are co-funding a joint project to redevelop Alveston Drive Play Area.
Work on the play area, which is located in the Villas Estate off Dean Row Road, is currently in progress, with the aim for the playpark to be ready in early November, weather permitting.
Wilmslow's Neighbourhood Plan identifies Alveston Drive Playground as a designated Local Green Space in due to its close proximity to the community it serves.
The total cost of the project will be £75,636.85. S106 Developer contributions will make up £13,939.35 and the remaining costs will be split equally between Cheshire East Council and Wilmslow Town Council.
Wilmslow Town Council have allocated up to £35,000 for the redevelopment, which includes a small contingency.
A variety of new play equipment is being installed, including swings, a spinner, rocker, a two-tower play structure for younger children, and a triple tower for older children with slide, climbing sections and bridges, all enclosed by new steel fencing.
Also to be added are benches, a picnic table and a Wilmslow Town Council noticeboard.
Ansa Environmental Services (a Cheshire East Council company) is organising and overseeing the work.
Wilmslow Town Mayor, Councillor Tim Higgins, said of the project, "Alveston Drive Play Area was in great need of improvement, having been built in the 1990s with materials that would no longer meet modern day standards.
"Some of the equipment had already been removed due to its poor and dangerous condition, prior to our investment.
"There are many families with young children living close to the play area, who have had to travel to other parks for their children to play in a playground, so we are thrilled to co-fund this project to renew this neighbourhood playpark.
"I would like to thank Councillor Lata Anderson, who has been a driving force behind this project.
"We have seen how well-used Little Lindow play area has been since it was regenerated in 2022 and hope Alveston Drive play area will also have an equally positive impact on the community.
"We are proud to partner with Cheshire East Council once again on a playpark redevelopment project."
