Detectives are appealing for information following a person failed to stop after a collision in Wilmslow, that left someone hospitalised.

Emergency services were called to Gravel Lane at around 2.50am on Sunday June 27 following reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a white Mercedes Vito.

The pedestrian, a man in his 20's, sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

He has since been released from hospital.

The Mercedes car fled the scene of the incident, or conducted a hit-and-run, as it is informally known.

A 33-year-old man from Manchester was arrested on suspicion of assault but has since been released under investigation.

Officers are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward to help with their investigation.

Detective Constable Towe said: "The victim sustained serious injuries consistent with being struck with a vehicle.

"This whole incident has been a frightening experience for the victim, who was lucky not to have been more seriously injured.

"We have carried out a number of enquiries and we are now asking for the public's help.

"We are asking for anyone who may have seen the incident, anyone who has information or dashcam footage, and particularly any sightings of a white Mercedes Vito driving in the area prior to this incident, to contact Cheshire Police.

"The same goes for anyone who may have CCTV footage or may know who is responsible and has not yet come forward."

Anyone with information should call our police on 101 quoting incident IML 1023335 or report here.

Alternatively, information can be passed on to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via this webpage.
