This year marks the 40th anniversary since a shocking discovery was made in a peat bog at Lindow Moss near Wilmslow in Cheshire.
On the 1 August 1984 remains were found of the preserved bog body of a man.
It is thought that the body was deposited into Lindow Moss sometime between 2 BC and 119 AD.
The find was hailed as one of the most significant archaeological discoveries of the 1980s and caused a huge media sensation.
The unique conditions of the peat bog have meant that bodies like Lindow Man can be preserved in good condition for centuries.
Examinations of Lindow Man showed he was in his 20s, of average height, well-built and in good health.
There are several theories about how he met his fate, but no concrete answers.
The interest in Lindow Man has led to more in-depth research of accounts of discoveries in bogs since the 17th century
The recovered body has been preserved by freeze-drying and is currently on permanent display at the British Museum, although it occasionally travels to other venues such as the Manchester Museum.
To marks this special occasion, a series of events will be happening around Wilmslow.
These include a talk by local historian and author, John Wallace, on Wednesday 27 November.
The bog's history is also the subject of an ongoing exhibition and art-trail. You find more information HERE.
