Major delays in Wilmslow due to overturned tanker

Major delays are to be expected in Wilmslow after a tanker overturned on Birrell Way in Wilmslow.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "At 12.15pm on Wednesday 20 November police were called to reports of a collision on the A34 in Wilmslow.
"Officers attended the scene and found a tanker had overturned near on Birrell Way and was leaking onto the carriageway.
"There are no reports of any serious injuries, and the contents of the tanker are not believed to be hazardous to the public.
"As a result of the collision the A34 is currently closed in both directions between Bollin Valley Roundabout and Prestbury Road.
"Recovery work is currently underway; however, the closure is expected to remain in place for several hours.
"Local diversions are in place, but there are significant delays in the area and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
Two fire crews from Wilmslow and Macclesfield, a hazardous materials environment protection unit from Ellesmere Port and a high volume pump from Powey Lane also attended the scene.
Firefighters have used absorbent environment mats to soak up fuel and oil spilt from the vehicle.
Police have closed the road in both directions between the A538 and Dean Row Road.
Diversions are in place, but motorists are being advised to avoid the area while the incident is being dealt with.
