Firefighters were called to rescue a trapped horse in Wilmslow this morning.

Two specialist animal rescue units from Lymm and Bollington attended the incident on Holly Lane at 7:45am and on arrival they found that a horse had its leg trapped in a bar in the stable.

A spokesperson for the Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "The crews used specialist hydraulic tools and kickboards to release the horse safely, it was then passed to the care of its owner."

Firefighters were at the scene for around 45 minutes.
