Police investigate suspected arson attack after car set on fire in Wilmslow

Firefighters were called to the scene of a car fire on Newton Road in Wilmslow on the morning of Sunday 5 January.

One fire engine was dispatched from Wilmslow to tackle the car blaze which is thought to have been started deliberately.

A Cheshire fire and rescue service spokesperson said: "Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel water jets to extinguish a car on fire.

"Specialist equipment was also deployed to prevent fuel leaking into a drain.

"It is believed the fire was started deliberately. Police were also at the scene."
