62-year-old cyclist dies following serious collision near Wilmslow

A 62-year-old cyclist has sadly died after being hit by a car near Wilmslow over the weekend.
On Saturday 14 September, Cheshire Police received reports of an incident on Wilmslow Road, Handforth.
Officers arrived at the scene, discovering a blue Citroen C4 Grand had hit a cyclist, knocking them to the roadside.
The cyclist, a 62-year-old woman, was treated at the scene by passers-by and then paramedics before being taken to hospital where she remained in a critical condition.
She has since sadly passed away.
A 42-year-old woman has since pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving following the collision in Handforth at the weekend.
Seena Chacko, of Tabley Road, Handforth, appeared at Chester Magistrates Court on 16 September to face charges of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop after a road accident, no licence and no insurance.
She admitted the offences and is next due to appear at Chester Crown Court on 21 October to be sentenced.
Chacko had carried on along the road with the bike underneath the vehicle before she was stopped by another motorist.
Investigating officer, Sgt Russ Sime from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "This was a horrific incident and shocking for those who witnessed it. I'd like to thank those who stopped the car, and those who gave the cyclist first aid while paramedics were called.
"Our thoughts remain with the family of the cyclist at this truly awful time."
