Wilmslow Football: Remaining Wilmslow Albion Pre-Season Fixtures announced

By Alex Greensmith 25th Nov 2021

Wilmslow Albion have revealed four pre-season fixtures ahead of the start of their Manchester League Division 1 campaign.

This month, the Styal Road pitch will host four home games to prepare the squad for the new season.

The club, who play at Level 11 on the Football Pyramid, will first welcome Cheadle Heath Nomads on July 17.

The North West Counties League Division One South side are one tier above Wilmslow in the football pyramid, so will be a tough test for our town's club.

The 2pm kick-off will be followed by a 12pm kick-off against West Didsbury AFC a week later. They're also in the same league as Cheadle Heath Nomads.

They were one place above Cheadle Heath Nomads, who finished in 5th and 6th respectively when last season was curtailed due to coronavirus.

Prestwich Heys will then make the 18 mile to Oakwood Farm for a game on 28th July. The only evening kick-off of the newly-announced bunch will be at 7pm.

This is set to be the toughest test of all the pre-season fixtures. They Heys are in the League above Wilmslow's two other upcoming opponents - Cheadle and West Didsbury.

They play in the North West Counties League Premier Division, a highly-competitive division which features Wilmslow's neighbouring town Macclesfield FC.

An interclub match will take place against Wilmslow Albion's Development Side on July 31.

The 2pm kick-off will be with the newly-formed youth side who are making their debut season in the Manchester League Division 5, four promotions below their parent club.

After this, Wilmslow's league season will begin. However, the Manchester League have not revealed fixtures yet for any Division, including Division 1.

The fixtures will be revealed here, and on Wilmslow Nub News.

Our town's footie club announced their quartet of pre-season fixtures on the day of the EURO 2020 final, where England saw heartbreak in the penalty shootout.

The club, who celebrated their 100th anniversary in 2019, can be followed on Facebook via this link.

They also have over 1,500 followers on Twitter.

Wilmslow Nub News wishes the club all the best ahead of the new season in the Manchester League Division 1.
